Since 27 September 2026, new EU requirements have applied to how businesses communicate consumers’ statutory guarantee rights and commercial guarantees of durability.
Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 introduces two harmonised information tools:
- A harmonised legal guarantee notice, designed to make consumers’ statutory rights more visible and accessible.
- The GARAN label, identifying products covered by qualifying commercial guarantees of durability offered by producers.
These requirements have practical implications for retailers and businesses operating across physical and online sales channels, particularly in relation to product labelling, pre-contractual disclosure obligations and consumer communications.
In its latest article, our member firm Kyriaides Georgopoulos Law Firm examines the new framework, its implications for businesses and the key steps towards compliance.
