On 22 December 2021, the Hellenic Competition Commission (‘HCC’) published the Interim Report[1] of the Sector Inquiry (‘SI’) initiated pursuant to article 40 of Law 3959/2011, on the financial technologies sector[2] (‘FinTech’). 5G Network Development

The Government of Serbia should open an auction to award licenses to 5G network operators, during the first half of 2022. Three bidders for the development of the 5G network have been mentioned in public: Telekom Serbia, Telenor (PPF Group), and A1. Telekom Serbia already secured EUR 70 million from the European Investment Bank for the development of the 5G network. It is unclear how many licenses will the state issue.

BC Partners Pens Contract To Buy United Group From KKR
BC Partners, a leading international investment firm, signed an agreement to acquire a majority stake in United Group B.V. from KKR which is to remain a minority stakeholder. This is an important event on the South-East European market given that United Group provides broadcasting and distribution services to more than 1.8 billion customers in the region and employs over 3400 people. In its official statement, BC Partners expressed excitement about the transaction and commitment to further invest in United Group’s growth. The closing of the deal is subject to standard regulatory approvals.
