Romania Plans to Invest Over EUR 16 Billion for the Development of the Energy Sector

January 2022 In the context of the 2021-2030 Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan, the Romanian state will invest EUR 16 billion, granted by the EU. The investments will be focused on energy efficiency, renewable energy, reducing greenhouse emissions. Some of the measures include the development of a nuclear programme, modernisation of Oltenia and Hunedoara Energy Complexes, investments by the state-owned companies Hidroelectrica and Romgaz.

Serbia Planning Construction of Wind Farms and Solar Power Plants

January 2022 Serbia prepared a new investment plan for energy and mining projects worth around EUR 17 billion. EUR 12 billion from the total amount will be used to finance the construction of wind farms, solar and hydro power plants. The Draft Economic Reform Programme for the period 2022-2024 envisages the implementation of state projects for the construction of wind farms with a capacity of 3,000 megawatts (MW) and solar power plants with a capacity of 8,300 MW.

Bistrica Hydro-Power Plant

January 2022 Serbian government announced that the construction of the hydro-power plant Bistrica should start in 2022. The plant should have the power of 680 MW and the value of the project is EUR 600 million. Several foreign investors expressed interest to participate in the project, but no official arrangements have been made yet.

Greenco Ekopark to Build Solar Park at 100 hectares Near Kikinda

January 2022 The solar park should have the power of 80MW and the investment is worth between EUR 60 and 70 million. The company developed the feasibility study. The local municipality is currently preparing a detailed regulation plan for the area. The project would have a strong impact on the development of Kikinda and put the entire area on the "green map of Europe", the local municipality said.

December 2021 The PE Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) plans to build a solar power plant within the tailings pond at the open-pit mine Cirikovac. The future solar power plant Petka is located to the left of the Pozarevac-Kostolac road. The deadline to apply is 8 February.

Construction of 50 MW Solar Power Plant Mali Izvor Planned Near Zajecar

December 2021 The City of Zajecar has put the detailed regulation plan for the construction of a solar power plant in the cadaster municipality of Mali Izvor up for an early public review. The project was commissioned by Energy Network d.o.o. from Belgrade. The construction of a 110 kV transmission line in the function of the Mali Izvor solar power plant is also planned.

Subotica to Get New Solar Power Plant Bikovo

December 2021 Novi Sad-based company Untermolo plans to build the solar power plant Bikovo in Subotica. The facility should have the maximum installed power of 50 MW from generators spreading across 80 hectares. The detailed regulation plan is put out by the Subotica city government for an early public review.
