Reconstruction of the Kastel Fortress, Banja Luka

The Kastel fortress is a medieval fortification situated in Banja Luka. The entire complex stretches across 48,000 m2. At present, the fortress is used by residents and visitors of Banja Luka in an inefficient fashion. A project conceptual design proposed solutions in the reconstruction and revitalization of the Kаstеl in accordance with the cultural and historical values of the fortress and the city. Technical documentation for the reconstruction and revitalisation is being currently prepared, along with the documentation defined by Law of Spatial Planning and Building. Currently, the acquisition of tender documentation is in progress. The project value is EUR 25.6 million while it is estimated that the local partners will cover 15% of the cost.
