Privatisation of the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator
Privatisation of the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator
HEDNO S.A. is a 100% subsidiary of Public Power Corporation S.A. (PPC), the biggest power producer and electricity supplier in Greece. It was created from the spin-off of the Distribution segment, pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 4001/11, and is entirely independent from its parent company in terms of management and operation. HEDNO has undertaken the tasks of the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator and, as such, performs the duties of operation, maintenance and development of the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network (HEDN). PPC S.A., granted with the relevant Exclusivity Permit, retains the ownership of the HEDN.
The Greek State is reviewing the options for the privatisation of HEDNO and is considering the regional approach model (split the areas on a geographical basis) in order to enhance the value of the sale of HEDNO.
