Modernisation of National Railway Lines Update

The Bulgarian national company “Railway Infrastructure” (NCRI) has announced an investment proposal for the modernisation of the railway line Vidin – Medkovets, railway section I of the railway line Vidin – Sofia. The project includes the construction of a new catenary, construction of a railway, railway facilities, and new railway stations. The project amount is expected to be around EUR 460 million. NCRI expects that the project will be funded under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF2) programme and plans to start it in 2022.
Further details of the project have not yet been announced.
