Divestment of OMV’s business in Slovenia

As part of their EUR 2 billion disposal program, OMV AG has recently announced the second divestment package comprising Borealis’ nitrogen business and OMV’s business in Slovenia.

In Slovenia, OMV currently operates 120 filling stations under the OMV, Eurotruck, Avanti and Diskont brands. With a market share of just over 20%, they are the second largest player on the Slovenian market of petroleum products.

The divestment of their Slovenian business is expected to be carried out through the sale of a 92.25% stake in OMV Slovenija.

While the data for 2020 is not available yet, in 2019, OMV Slovenija generated EUR 803 million in revenue (almost unchanged from 2018) and EUR 24.9 million in profit (EUR 1 million more than in 2018).

Among those being mentioned as possible buyers are the Polish PKN Orlen, the Hungarian MOL Group, the Russian Lukoil and the Azerbaijani SOCAR.
