BDK Advokati Holds a Seminar on Data Processing in the Workplace
Milica Basta, senior associate at BDK Advokati, has held a seminar on processing of personal data in the employment context for the representatives of Serbian companies. The event took place on 26 September 2019 in Belgrade and was hosted by Forum Media.
In her presentation, Milica examined the legal basis that the employers may rely on when processing personal data of the employees. She also analysed the specific conditions to be met to lawfully conduct background checks and internal investigations, and to use hotline schemes or video surveillance systems. Milica also explored the criteria for determining appropriate retention periods for various categories of employee data.
The interactive nature of the training encouraged the participants to present and discuss numerous challenges that they are confronting in their day-to-day practice, while Milica considered the potential data protection-compliant solutions for those challenges.
