Announcement from KALO & ASSOCIATES

We, KALO & ASSOCIATES, had a good year although it was associated with COVID-19 consequences. Lockdown and working from home/distance did not affect so much the standard we do business normally, so we were able to keep the clients satisfied and also improved the remote communication skills so that in case restrictions continue during 2021, clients will receive the same service as usual.

Our ranking in the legal rating agencies is a proof of our continued stability in this legal market and the fact that Andersen chose our firm as Collaborating Firm in Albania shows we are in the right direction.

One more reason to feel accomplished at the end of this year is the appointment of the firm’s Founder and Managing Partner, Mr. Përparim Kalo, as JUSTICE of the Albanian Constitutional Court, last week.

His appointment makes history as only now the Constitutional Court has started functioning, after two and a half years of dysfunction due to the missed quorum required by law. Mr. Kalo’ s appointment does also mark the satisfaction of the sole precondition imposed on Albania for opening the integration negotiations with the EU. This high-level appointment is an appreciation for his contribution, not simply as a lawyer, but also as a man with additional values, including involvement in social affairs like Corporate Social Responsibility, support for art and culture, civil society causes, etc. Many lawyers who have been working in the firm see this appreciation as appreciation for them too.

Mr. Kalo has delegated the management role to two equity partners, Aigest Milo and Eni Kalo, who will be co-managing the firm and who expressed their pride of being part of the history of the firm and their commitment to continue keeping its values intact and work harder for bringing them even to a higher level. Understanding that this development suggests for some organisational measures, based on the performance assessment in the last two years, we would like to announce the following promotions in Albania and Kosovo:

In addition, we announce two new hires:

  • Jona Bica as Special Counsel in our office in Kosovo and
  • Olsi Coku as Senior Associate in our Tirana offices.
