A Combined Heat and Power Plant to be Built in Sofia

The Sofia municipality-owned heating utility “Toplofikatsiya Sofia” launched a tender for EUR 149.4 million for the construction of a combined heat and power plant in Sofia. The construction of the plant that is to utilise refuse-derived fuel (RDF) is to be completed by 2023. It is expected that the plant will reduce the hearing utility’s natural gas costs.

Half of the financing is to be provided under the EU Operational Programme Environment 2014-2020 with the remaining half coming through a loan from the European Investment Bank.

The contract includes a two-year warranty period with the provision of technical support and staff training envisaged within three years.

The deadline for the submission of offers is 15 March 2021.
