Improvement of Water Utility Infrastructure Near the City of Rijeka

Construction works with regards to the improvement of water utility infrastructure project in the area of the Rijeka agglomeration, worth almost EUR 300 million will soon begin. The project aims to improve water and communal services in the area of the Rijeka agglomeration, and it includes the construction and optimization of the water supply and drainage system, whereby about 217 km of sewage system and about one hundred km of water supply system will be built, along with 125 pumping stations and a new wastewater treatment plant.
Investments in Zadar Airport

The Zadar Airport is preparing for the growth of traffic with an investment of EUR 2.2 million in the renovation of additional annexes of the passenger terminal and the extension of the runway. It is a capital investment with extensive works at that airport, which had more than one million passengers in 2022, and the plans and announcements for 2023 are significally higher.
Announced Calls for Tender for Infrastructure Projects Totalling EUR 9.4 Billion

The Romanian Ministry for Investment and European Projects has announced that 13 calls for tenders would be launched between March and June 2023 concerning road and railway investment projects and other investment initiatives focusing on sustainable mobility in urban nodes and navy infrastructure. The 13 calls for tender scheduled for 2023 total EUR 9.4 billion and other two calls will be launched in 2024.
Tender for the Award of Concession for Two Montenegrin Airports

The tender for concession of two Montenegrin airports, with the deal value of up to EUR 300 million, was launched in 2019 and, following the prequalification phase, three of the four qualified bidders remained interested in the project; namely, Corporation America Airports, Incheon International Airports Corporation and the consortium between TAV Havalimanlari Holding and Aeroports Paris Internacional. New E-bike Plant of Leader 96 in Plovdiv

Bulgarian manufacturer of electric bicycles Leader 96 will invest BGN 50 million (approximately EUR 25 million) in a new production plant near Plovdiv, located in the Kuklen area, a part of the Trakia Economic Zone. It is expected the manufacturing process will start at the beginning of 2023 with a production capacity of 300,000 bicycles per year.
Construction of the Metkovic-Dubrovnik Highway

The construction of the highway from Metković to Dubrovnik is one of the most noteworthy projects in 2023. The estimated value of the highway, which is only 47 km long, together with 14.7 km of access roads is expectedly high due to many facilities on the route; namely, on the 61 km of highways and roads, 21 bridges and viaducts and 20 tunnels will be built. This makes it the most expensive highway in Croatia – one kilometer of construction will cost around EUR 26 million.

Reconstruction and Modernisation of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad Railway

The Bulgarian construction company Trace Group Hold announced on the Sofia Stock Exchange that, on 12 October, it had signed an agreement on the reconstruction and modernisation of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad railway. The value of the contract is EUR 169.68 million, and the deadline for the completion of the work is 3.5 years. The investor is Serbian Railways Infrastructure a.d. and the financier is the European Investment Bank.
The work will be carried out by a consortium of Bulgarian companies, Trace Group and Start Engineering, and the Italian company Armatori Ferroviari.

Satu Mare International Airport to Invest RON 433 million (Approx. EUR 88 Million) for Modernisation Works

Satu Mare International Airport will invest RON 433 million (EUR 88 million) from European funds (European Regional Development Fund), and supplemented by allocations from the state budget and from Satu Mare County’s local budget, for various modernization works. Of the total, RON 365 million (EUR 73.7 million) will be used to build a new terminal and extend the existing terminal, rehabilitate the runway, extend the boarding platform, and to purchase equipment for airport activities in winter.
Modernization of the Port of Sibenik Area

The modernization of the port area of the port of Sibenik – cargo and passenger port – is one of the planned projects. About EUR 58 million will be invested in the renovation of the passenger port and about EUR 45 million in the cargo port. In the cargo part of the port, the project includes the development of the port infrastructure at the Rogac and Termika terminals and the Drvno terminal: road and rail network, stormwater drainage system and the development of the operational waterfront.
